Sidney Sussex: at the end, where it began

My Finals are over! I can actually say I got through a trying Cambridge degree! And for my first blog post ever I will be exhibiting the place that became a place of refuge during those pressured times of revision and trying times in general. I feel so calm and at peace with the world in a garden. Especially one that despite being in the midst of the town-centre can hold such tranquility. If you know anything about Sidney Sussex College, it really is in the centre of it all (and opportunely opposite Sainsbury's).

My Cambridge degree was not easy to say the least. There were times where I simply wanted to give up and times really did hit rock bottom at some points. The journey is what has gotten me this far.

My trials have inspired me more than I could have ever imagined. A smooth sailing path would have been too easy and if you know me, I don't ever do things because of the lack of resistance. From starting Ancient Greek to applying to Cambridge to every other achievement I have ever made.

All things are entertwined and both my self love and self worth grew in this place. Not because of this place but in reaction to this place. When things are easy it is easy to love yourself. When you love yourself, things start to happen for you but most especially if you have to prove that love to yourself and not anyone else. Loving yourself takes belief and resistance to outer assumptions and judgements on you that may or may not be right. It is up to you to prove that you are what you want to be and to do what you think you can achieve.

I will say that I do not regret for one second that I was a member of Sidney Sussex College. I spent four good years of my life here. Sidney has launched me mentally as well as practically; Sidney Sussex sponsored my first exhibition curation! I met some interesting people and made a few amazing friends here!
